Dining at this restaurant was a deeply disappointing experience, especially given its association with the Marriott brand, which naturally sets a high benchmark for both service and quality.
We initially opted for outdoor seating, but within 10β20 minutes, we were compelled to move indoors due to the visibly unclean condition of the area. The tables were not properly cleaned, and the lack of attention to basic hygiene immediately set a poor first impression. Unfortunately, the indoor experience did very little to improve matters. Service was slow and inattentive.
We arrived at approximately 2:40 PM, yet the food came only around 3:20 PMβan excessive wait that raised expectations for a well-executed meal. However, the kitchen failed to deliver. The food was underwhelming at best and disappointing at worst. While the buffalo chicken wings were acceptable, they did little to redeem the overall experience.
The yakitori rice bowl was particularly disappointing. The dish lacked depth, finesse, and valueβsomething one would expect at a significantly lower price point elsewhere. More troubling was the fact that the chicken skewers were undercooked, a flaw that is not only disappointing but also unacceptable from a food safety standpoint.
The bill amounted to approximately βΉ4,000. While premium pricing is justified when matched with quality, consistency, and craftsmanship, this meal offered none of the above. For a restaurant operating under the Marriott name, the experience fell far below expectations, making this one of my most unsatisfactory dining experiences at a Marriott property to date.
We ended up visiting Vertex Cafe again by mistake, having forgotten about our previous disappointing experience. Unfortunately, nothing has changed. There were no servers available and no one seemed willing to attend to customers. You are completely on your own..if youβre lucky, a server might appear within 10 minutes of arrival.
Today being Christmas, the situation was even worse. There was no staff in the open area, and only one lady was taking orders. The cafe was clearly understaffed and poorly managed. The staff appeared untrained, inefficient, and showed no basic politeness or hospitality.
This is a service industry, yet the attitude reflected complete indifference toward customers. The overall environment felt unwelcoming, and due to the behavior and lack of availability, we cancelled our order immediately after placing it.
A very disappointing experience once again. We will make sure not to repeat this mistake in the future.
